About Sudan

Sudan is an Arab country located in Northeast Africa. Sudan has a population of about 43 million (2018 estimate) and an area of ​​1,886,068 square kilometers (728,215 square miles), making it the third largest country by area in Africa and in the Arab world. Sudan is one of the vast countries with diverse natural resources such as agricultural lands, livestock and mineral resources, forests, fisheries and fresh water. Sudan relies mainly on agriculture, as it represents 80% of the population’s activity in addition to industry, especially industries that depend on agriculture.

Filing Trademark/Service Mark Application

  • A Power of Attorney, duly notarized.
  • An Extract from the Commercial Register or Articles of Association or Incorporation, if the applicant is a corporate body, duly
    legalized up to the Sudanese Consulate.
  • In case of claiming priority, a certified copy of a corresponding home or foreign application of the trademark.

Trademark Assignment

  • A Deed of Assignment signed by both the Assignor and the Assignee, duly legalized up to the Sudanese Consulate.
  • A Certificate of Incorporation of the assignee, duly legalized up to the Sudanese Consulate.
  • A Power of Attorney from the Assignee, duly notarized.

Recordal of Change of Name or Address

  • Certificate of Change of Name and/or Address, duly legalized up to the Sudanese Consulate.
  • A Power of Attorney, in the new name and/or address, duly notarized.

Recordal of License Agreement

  • A License Agreement signed by both the Licensor and the Licensee, duly legalized up to the Sudanese Consulate.
  • A Power of Attorney from the Licensee, duly notarized

Filing a Domain Name Application

  • A Power of Attorney, duly legalized up to the Sudanese Consulate.
  • An Extract form the Commercial Register or the Certificate of Incorporation, duly legalized
    up to the Sudanese Consulate.
  • In the application, the applicant is required to state:

  • Power of Attorney from the applicant, duly notarized.
  • Certified copy of the certificate of registration of the relevant trademark.
  • Certificate of Incorporation or Extract from its Commercial Register, duly notarized.
  • Print of each relevant trademark.
  • Certified copy of the contractual exploitation agreement, in case of local licensee.
  • Prints of the genuine products, (optional).
  • Depositing a bank check signed and issued by the trademark owner or his authorized agent in Sudan, without writing a specific value, in consideration of any costs that may result from the seizure of counterfeit goods if it is proved that the seizure was not justified and resulted in material losses to the owner of the goods that were seized.
